Cyrano Reflcection

Cyrano de Bergerac is a story of a man who fights for the people with his enlarged nose. The reason this story is good is because it blends in several different elements that just sucks you in. It derives from a rich background added with a subtle, yet amusing atmospher, filled with colorful characters, and finished off with brilliant writing and dialogue. The story of Cyrano also delves into the cockels of your heart and shows you the pain and emotion from a man bound to lonlieness. This story is filled with twists and turns, laughs and cries, love and hate, full of spirit and dead before dark. This is a book for the ages.

Satire

Satire is a way to express ourselves in a way where you play off it or joke about it in a sarcastic and ironic manner. Satire is one of the main components in today's culture and our media. It shapes what we like, how we view things, and the interpretations of society. Satire helps us see rediculus things for what they really are. If not for satire today's generation would be greatly changed from what they are today.

Satire heavily influences everything around us. If not for satire, many popular forms of media would not be here today. Many shows like Mad TV, SNL, and shows like the Simpsons or Family Guy wouldn't be aound. Now these shows are heavily watched by growing amounts of today's youths and they are influenced by whats on them. Satire is helping these programs by parodying pop culture in its most basic forms. It is taking what's in our society and culture and basically laughing at it. It's helping us to understand what is wrong with some of today's youth or society in general.

Blog #2

Of all the different books and stories we've read throughout the year, my favorite would have to be Anthem. It was a book that just jumped out to me as soon as I started reading it. The way it was written to fit today's society and all of it's reform. This book was really ahead for any time period really because it dealt with social standards and problems. I loved this book and was really glad we got a chance to read it.

The next book I'm really looking forward to is Paper Towns by John Green. I've actually already read it , but I just couldn't help but mention this book. It has such a well written plot and incorporates such smart humor. This book is simply wonderful with its story of teenage life and the "nerdfighters". These are the types of books I truly love, ones that can relate to a reader on a personal level. It creates a sort of special connection that you don't get with sci-fi or fantasy type books. When you're reading it you relate to the characters and think, "hey, this could happen to me" or "I know what they're going throgh".
